Fun FriYAY Celebrations: 10 Funny, Silly Songs for

It’s been a long week. You’re tired. Your kids are tired. The weekend is close, but it seems oh-so-far away. It’s Friday!!!! {Ahem, pardon me… FriYAY!} One of the ways I build relationships in my classroom and celebrate a week of hard work, successes, triumphs, and wins is to have FUN FRIYAY!

What is Fun FriYAY, you ask? Oh, just hold on to your boots, partner!

Each Friday, I end my class about 5 minutes early and show my kids a fun video that is wholesome, family-friendly, and most important of all… FUN!!! The kids love it, and it’s a chance for all of us to let loose and celebrate a great week together.

It can be exhausting looking through YouTube to find fun, age-appropriate videos – so I have done all of the work for you!! Below are my students’ top-recommended, most laugh-out-loud worthy videos that we use for Fun Fridays.

BONUS: There is a YouTube Playlist that has been curated for you – you don’t need to do any of the work!!! You can find the Playlist at the end of this post.

THE VIDEOS

Kid Snippets: Math Class

This is one of my favorite videos of all time, and my kids rated this their #1 favorite Fun FriYay video. Yayyyyy!!!! Kid Snippets is a whole channel that’s hilarious. Some awesome grown-up actors do what five and six year old kids tell them to do, and the resulting video makes my entire group of 4th graders crack up!

The Annoying Orange
This is another video in a series of videos that are ridiculous, but in a good way! My kids love the episode where Orange replaces Pac-Man in the video game. Annoying Orange tells countless jokes that are super PUNNY, and the throwback to this video game makes it all worth it.

It’s Raining Tacos
Because, who doesn’t like tacos???

The Duck Song
Has anyone ever told you the jory (a joke-story) about the duck who keeps asking people for grapes? Well, this video takes this joke and turns it into a song! Follow along with the catchy tune – but make sure to pay attention to the man’s face. It’s the best part!

Minions Banana Song
Sometimes, my class is so ready for the dismissal bell on Friday afternoons that I just have to join the crazy instead of fighting it. When my kids need a lot of stimulation to keep them engaged, Minions is the way to go!

The Color Song
This song is cute and fun to sing along with, and it has a secret educational value that the kids don’t even realize! The song is sung by dancing colored pencils, and throughout the song, they leave the color of the pencil out of the song. Kids have to replace the word with a word that rhymes – and it gets tricky!!! The giggles are aplenty in my room when we play this song – the kids love to try and keep up!

The Mean Kitty Song
Cats are cute, but let’s be real… they are sneaky, manipulative, and sometimes just plain mean! This catchy song is all about a man’s mean kitty. The song is random, it’s silly, and it’s just a hoot to watch the kids sing along! They love the images on the screen, and they also think the lyrics are a hit!

Blood!
This video isn’t a song, but rather a cute little kid who is worried about his brother, who is bleeding. The kiddo is NOT pleased with his parents, who keep laughing at his intensity! It’s a must watch when the kids just need to laugh off some steam.

David After Dentist
Some of you might remember this viral video from the 2000’s, when a dad taped his son after mouth surgery. The child says some hilarious things and has some great reactions to his surroundings. My kids love this one because it’s just plain silly!

"I cannot say enough how much I LOVE this product!! It was a fantastic way to show my students that I cared about them and wanted them to succeed.  It was super easy for them to fill out each day and they were honest with their needs which gave me a way to help assess how the day needed to go."

"I was looking for ways to incorporate some things that would make [Morning Meeting] feel older to 5th graders. This is a great resource for that! I love your ideas, especially how you structure your time with the quadrants and your cues. Very creative."

"One of the best purchases I have made. I love how the first part of this kit is so in depth and gives valuable tips for incorporating SEL into the classroom. This is especially useful for those beginning SEL or their teaching career. I can see myself using some of these resources to help train other teachers in SEL. Highly recommend Mikey's website as well. Very comprehensive and helpful. I'm following for sure!"
